Opening Night tonight!

We’re all set to strut the red carpet for our 25th Anniversary Opening Night Gala! Tonight’s programme is a festival highlights showcase including local documentary Let’s Dance: Bowie Down Under (on the Grand Old Duke’s birthday no less) and the highly acclaimed Ave Maria amongst a taster of the amazing short films coming up over the next ten days.Then we’ll be kicking on into the night at our Opening Night/Birthday Bash overlooking beautiful Bondi Beach, with delicious food and drinks, Stephen Ferris on the decks and a whole lotta fun. Coming up this weekend

Short Laughs – Our first session is jam packed with funnies from around the world. Meet Herman the German and find out if Satan Has A Bushy Tail and check out the latest from Brendan Cowell and Matt Day, a short–film about a short-filmmaker’s short film. Saturday at 4:30pm

Best of Australian – Back to back the first two sessions showcasing our home-grown talent.  Australian short films in competition for the prestigious Academy® accredited award for Best Australian Short Film.  Don’t miss this diverse programme from our local screen storytellers.

Sunday – A big day of shorts on Sunday with FlickerKids kicking off at 2:00pm showcasing awesome films for kids from around the globe, followed by the popular Magic From The Oscars session at 4.30pm, celebrating the Oscar short nominees and award winners of the past two years. Then a trip around the world with Best of International 1 at 6.30pm followed by Best of Australian 3 at 8.45pm.
