SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE AT FLiCKERFEST THIS TUESDAY!
Tantalising Tuesday at Flickerfest features a diverse array of programmes with something for everyone, big kids, little kids, lovers of tales tall and true and an incredible Aussie line-up to cap it all off!!
Setting the scene for Tuesday is the always adorable, always fun FlickerKids programme bringing some delightful family friend shorts from all corners of the globe.
Stunning stop-animation Two Balloons will take you an amazing adventure through the stars and the clouds and the adorable Corky features a magical corkscrew, with a screw loose!!!
In the afternoon our Documentary Competition programmes kick off featuring not one but two Academy Award shortlisted documentary shorts! Best of Documentary 1 brings us the endearing story of Edith & Eddie, who at 95 and 96 years of age are America’s oldest interracial newlyweds!! Alas their love story is hindered as their family start to intervene and a family feud threatens to tear them apart!
In Kayayo, The Living Shopping Baskets we get a glimpse into the world of Bamanu, an 8 year old girl sent away from her family to work as a Kayayo (girl-carrier) in order to support her family. A must see in Best of Documentary 2, this captivating story joins Edith & Eddie on the shortlist for a Best Documentary Short Academy Award!
Our final programme Best of Australian 6 of the evening stars some of the darlings of the Australian Film and Television world including Cate Blanchett, Andy Lee and Alex Dimitriades!
One half of fave Aussie radio & TV duo Hamish and Andy, Lee lets us in on what really goes down behind the scenes at a call centre when we are asked to ‘please hold’, being put on hold will never be the same again after watching Your Call Is Important To Us !!!!
Returning to Flickerfest is our 2016 winner of the Canon Award for Best Direction in an Australian Short Film, Brooke Goldfinch with her latest exploration of the future nature of humanity, Outbreak Generation.
