FLiCKERFEST 2020 – APRIL NEWS!

Dear Flickerfest friends far and wide…

Our thoughts are with you and we hope you are all staying safe and healthy during these difficult impacts of COVID-19 for everyone.

2289159.jpgLast month we were forced to postpone a number of touring venues across the country and we very much miss the fun and joy of sharing our incredible Flickerfest films on tour with you. We are regularly sharing amazing short films on our Facebook page to keep you connected with the world of shorts WATCH this years Academy ®Award Live Action Short  winner ‘The Neighbours Window‘ set in N.Y.C and selected for our international competition in January.  With the enormous impact of COVID-19  in NY currently this film has a particularly poignant message at this time.

At this stage we have rescheduled a number of our national tour venues that were due to roll out until the end of May until late September/October. We hope that by then our regional audiences will be able to come together and enjoy the magic of cinema again in their communities. Should restrictions still be in place for public gatherings at this time we will look at online possibilities for delivering our tour to our regional audiences across Australia

Please head to flickerfest.com.au/tour for all updates on our rescheduled tour dates in the coming months.

We are starting to get lots of enquiries regarding our entries for 2021. A big shout out to all of our filmmakers at home and across the world who cannot be out there making films at this current time. We understand that this is a very difficult time for all creators and Flickerfest will work flexibly with all of our global filmmaking family across our entry process and regulations for our 2021 event.

Our entries will open in Mid May and stay open until at least November for filmmakers who are struggling to finish their project on time. Please feel free to email us with any questions and support you need along the way including updates re the progress of your project.

At this stage we are planning to host Flickerfest’s 30th birthday festival in late January, early February  2021 at Bondi – Stay tuned for further announcements.
