NSW MID NORTH COAST – FRIDAY 6TH & SATURDAY 7TH MARCH

ImageThe Roxy Cinema in South West Rocks will be hosting not one but three Flickerfest screenings across three fabulous Friday’s in March!!

Kicking off this Friday the 6th of March is the Best of International Shorts programme featuring the delightful The Marvellous Misadventures Of The Stone Lady from Portugal.  Filmed inside The Louvre in Paris the film tells the story of a sculpture, tired of being a banal architectural ornament, who one night  runs away from the Louvre out onto the streets of Paris to confront life and become something more meaningful – alas, the young sculpture finds out that reality isn’t rosy as she had hoped.

If you can’t make it to the Roxy this Friday, stay tuned as we will be heading back there with on Friday the 13th with the Short Laughs Comedy programme and Friday the 20th with the FlickerKids programme, that will appeal to the kid in everyone!!!

This Saturday night we take our hilarious Short Laughs Comedy programme to the Majestic Cinemas in Sawtell, guaranteed to put a smile on your dial!!  A Family Affair, written and directed by and starring Florence Keith-Roach is the high-spirited story of Annabel who wakes up the morning after her 30th birthday party in a strangers bedroom, thinking that her day couldn’t get any worse, that is until Bernard walks in.

DOUBLE BILL IN MACKAY THIS WEEKEND!!!

ImageFlickerfest will once again return to the Central QLD Conservatorium of Music in Mackay this weekend over two hot nights of short films in conjunction with our friends at Film & Arts Mackay.

On Friday night the Best of Australian Shorts which includes The Egg, the story of a young girl, who, bored and lonely in a world of foreign suburbia, becomes determined to claim a larger Easter egg as her own.  Directed by Jane Cho, this charming short received a Special Mention in the Best Australian Short Film Awards at Flickerfest Bondi.

The Short Laughs Comedy programme follows up on Saturday evening featuring the side-splitting School’s Out from The Netherlands.  This Festival favourite black comedy is the story of a primary school teacher-parent meeting that goes from bad to worse when the veteran teacher has her methods called into question.

FLiCKERFEST SETS SAIL TO TASSIE!!

ImageThis weekend sees the Flickerfest Tour take to the seas with our first stop on the Apple Isle as part of the #Flickerfest2020 Tour!

Saturday night we will head to the Cygnet Town Hall with our Best of Australian Shorts programme featuring the stunning A Day In Your Life starring Geoff Morrell (Harrow, Top Of The Lake).

A meditation on homelessness, A Day In Your Life is quiet, thoughtful and deeply human, it is a gentle look at the world around us and the people pushed to its margins.

We will return once again on the 4th of April with the Best of International Shorts programme and again on the 2nd of May with both the FlickerKids and Short Laughs Comedy programmes.

FREE FLICKS AGAINST FIRES IN DINNER PLAIN!

ImageThis Saturday night #Flickerfest2020 stops off at the fire-affected Dinner Plain region in Victoria with the Best of Australian Shorts programme, a free event as part of the Flicks against Fires screening hosted by the Dinner Plain Alpine Village.

The programme includes the fabulous There’s A Mobster Under My Bed where with a literal Mobster layin’ low under her bed – it’s up to our 8-year-old girl to figure out what exactly he’s doing there – and how to get rid of him.
