Flickerfest will follow the current NSW Health guidelines.

Celebrating 30 years in 2021 Flickerfest is thrilled to announce a COVID Safe version of our acclaimed International Short Film Festival, a new glam festival garden with outdoor cinema and The Famous Spiegeltent in North Bondi Park supported by Waverley Council!

Our aim is to make this Flickerfest a celebration of the best of shorts film from at home and across the world and the fabulous and safe festival and enjoyable event you’ve been longing for!

In 2021 we will be making some changes in order to create a COVID Safe experience for our guests.

This summer’s season will run from 22nd to 31st January.

On top of delivering our Academy® Qualifying and BAFTA recognised Short Film Festival , our priority this summer is to protect the health and safety of our Flickerfest guests and staff.

We will be strictly observing COVID Safe measures to do this, and to help minimise the spread of COVID-19, in line with NSW Health guidelines and advice.

It’s Really Important You Don’t Attend If You:
• are unwell or, if in the last 72 hours, have been unwell with fever or respiratory symptoms (including cough or sore throat).
• have been in contact with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case in the past 14 days.
• are a resident of a COVID-19 hotspot, or have visited one in the last 14 days.
• are waiting on a COVID-19 test.

If this applies to you please don’t attend the event. If this applies to someone in your group they should not attend the event.

COVID Safe Check-In via Service NSW app
As part of our COVID Safe plan, it is a mandatory requirement from NSW Health that all guests check in via the Service NSW app.

We recommend that you download and activate the Service NSW app to your phone before the event to save time. As you enter, you’ll be required to show us proof that you’ve checked in. It’s a minor inconvenience that help keeps us all safe and an almost normal life ticking over.

You can be assured that when you scan the QR code, the only personal information sent to Service NSW is your Customer ID, the location of the business you are visiting, time and the date of your visit. The business will not see or collect this information and it will only be used for contact tracing. Service NSW only keep this information for 28 days unless required for contact tracing related to a COVID-19 hotspot. Please refer to the collection notice in the app for more information.

Face Masks
Face masks will be mandatory in The Famous Spiegeltent indoor cinema, & we encourage you to wear a facemask in the outdoor cinema, festival garden & bar areas. Best practice is to bring your own facemask and wear it whilst moving around the venue. Face masks will also be made available.

Social Distancing and Hygiene
Across the event we’ll be taking steps to ensure surfaces are sanitised frequently, social distancing is observed, and congestion is avoided. At key times, such as arrival and departure from the event, we will require your active participation in this.

There will be contactless hand sanitiser stations at the entry/exit, which guests will be asked to use on both arrival & departure, and additional hand sanitiser stations will also be available at various locations around the venue.

Event Capacity
To facilitate social distancing, the capacity of the event will be 450 for nightly session at 9pm outdoors and 250 for daytime sessions indoors. This will make the experience safe and will allow us to introduce a greater level of comfort for all.

This doesn’t mean a drastic reduction in availability as we have factored in social distancing in our seating plans.

Timed Entry and Allocated Seating
All seating for Flickerfest 2021 is allocated.

To avoid congestion and to comply with NSW Health social distancing guidelines, entry to the event will be staggered.

If you have purchased tickets for the Outdoor cinema in rows A To L please try to arrive 30 minutes before.

If you have purchased tickets in rows M to X Please try to arrive 15 minutes before.

If you have purchased tickets for the Indoor cinema in rows A To J please arrive 30 minutes before.

If you have purchased tickets in rows K To M please arrive 15 minutes before.

These staggered arrivals will also prevent congestion at the Flickerfest Garden Bar area. All Patrons will be able to purchase drinks and snacks and consume them at the garden bar if there is table availability or in their seats.

Staggered Exits
As above, to avoid congestion and to facilitate social distancing, your exit from the venue will be staggered.

When you arrive Please listen to the announcements, wait patiently while you’re required to, and follow staff directions for a safe exit.

Please allow more time than previous years for your exit from the venue. This is something we need to do and we thank you in advance for your patience.

Seating Changes
At Flickerfest you’ll find a mix of comfortable deck chairs (limited availability) outdoors and padded chair seating and padded chair seating and booths in the Spiegeltent. These chairs will be numbered and pre-allocated at the time of booking. Every seat will enjoy good views of the screen.

You’ll be seated subject to your preference and availability at the time of booking, with social distancing between respective groups.

Flickerfest Dining and Bar Garden
To meet with COVID restrictions everyone will have to be seated at our café tables or in their cinema seat when consuming food and beverages throughout the venue.

The Garden bar will be open until 10.30 pm each evening for all guests, with café tables with social distancing measures in place. You must always be seated when consuming alcohol or food.

We are a cashless event and you will need your credit or debit card, so please ensure you bring this with you.

COVID Safe Hygiene Marshals & Signage
Our staff will be trained in COVID Safe procedures and in addition to this we’ll have Safe Hygiene Marshals stationed across the event, to help make sure all aspects of our COVID Safe Plan are being maintained.

There will also be NSW Health provided COVID Safe signage around the venue to help guests maintain safe distances.
