IMPRESSIVE 2022 ENTRIES
Entries to Flickerfest 2022 International, Documentary and Australian competition programmes are now officially closed with a great response and just over 3,050 entries received. Thanks to all the filmmakers from at home and around the world who have shared your short film gems with us this year. We are incredibly impressed with the quality and diversity of this years entries despite the global challenges experienced for filmmakers far and wide.
A special thanks goes out to our dedicated pre-selection committee members, a diverse and creative bunch of 50 Australian industry experts who lend their skills and knowledge to the process of creating an inspiring and incredible Flickerfest 2022 programme and who greatly assist our talented programming team to make those super tough selection decisions. Stay tuned for the programme announcement in December.
We are also super excited to be launching into production of our Flickerfest 2022 trailer next week with Flickerfest alumni, talented producer Katherine Shearer and The Spectrum Award for Best Direction in an Australian Short Film winner Naomi Fryer (This River, Flickerfest 2021) at the helm. Once again the trailer will be based on an iconic film and we can’t to reveal this years fabulous theme. Thanks to this years trailer sponsors for making Flickerfest own short film masterpiece possible including Spectrum Films, The Solid State, Panavision and Trackdown.
FLiCKERFEST TO THE WORLD
Flickerfest is thrilled to be participating in a number of international screenings this month sharing the best of Australian shorts with audiences far and wide.
First off Flickerfest screens at the World Expo Dubai in the Australian Pavilion from 1st Oct to 31st March with a collection of nearly 30 Australian short films & 7 curated programmes showcasing our culture, storytelling traditions and award winning shorts with a truly global audience, supported by DFAT this is a great venture to celebrate Australian culture through short film.

On Thursday 11 November – 11 inspiring short films feature in our Best of Australian Shorts programme followed by a Q&A with Flickerfest alumni, Australian Writer/ Director Rebekah Jackson (For The Girl In The Coffee Shop) & Malaysian writer/director Erica Eng (Farewell).
On Sunday 14 November Australia now Malaysia 2021 will be screening the 2011 Oscar winner ‘The Lost Thing’ at 4pm followed by a Q& A with writer/director and Flickerfest alumni Shaun Tan.

FINAL STOP ON THE FLiCKERFEST 2021 TOUR – MERIMBULA
The Flickerfest Tour has criss-crossed across the country throughout 2021, bringing the short film love to 48 communities nationally, making our final stop on the 2021 tour in beautiful Merimbula, stopping off at The Picture Show Man Cinema with two delightful programmes.
On Saturday 27th November catch the Best of Australian Shorts programme and on Sunday 28th November cap your weekend off with a good old belly laugh with our Short Laughs Comedy programme featuring shorts from Australia and the globe.
Thanks to all of our 2021 tour audiences across Australia who have joined us in a celebration of short film this year, our wonderful touring partners who have hosted the screenings and of course the fabulous filmmakers who have shared their inspiring shorts on the big screen.
