A FEAST OF FILM, FOOD AND FUN UNDER THE STARS AT BONDI!

Sydney’s most loved and revered DJ and Vivid Music Curator Stephen Ferris will be guiding you on a musical journey this Friday night at the Flickerfest Opening night party overlooking sultry Bondi Beach!

Delectable finger food from Lady Chu, Hip Chips from our friends at Cobs, and only the best, Noble Cut Gin from Newtown crew Young Henry’s and some amazing beats will certainly put you in the mood to dance the night away amongst the stars!

All this following on from a selection of highlights from our 2018 programme that will make you laugh, warm or break your heart and maybe even make you shed a tear.

FLiCKERFEST WELCOMES FILMMAKERS FROM NEAR AND FAR!!

We are super excited to extend a warm Bondi welcome to a number of filmmaking guests coming to join us at Flickerfest 2018 from far off lands!!!

From the United Kingdom we welcome Kate Herron who has not one but two shorts screening at Flickerfest this year.  Screening in both the Best of International 1 and in the Best of EU Shorts 2 programme is Five by Five which follows five different characters across London, all whom intertwine in a unique and intriguing way.  Five by Five stars Idris Elba (The Wire, Luther) and is produced by his production company Green Door Pictures.  Kate is the first director handpicked by Idris to direct a Narrative Fiction project for his production company.  Kate’s second film Smear screening in the Short Laughs Comedy 1 programme is a hilarious take on what can go down when a woman goes for a dreaded Pap Smear!!

From Bonnie Scotland we have the hilarious Good Girls from Writer/Director Niamh McKeown following the journey of Bonnie, the finest head girl at the finest school attempting to round up the school captain’s for a group photo.  Good girls screens in our Short Laughs Comedy 2 programme on Saturday the 20th of January and Niamh will be here to introduce her screening!!

Also joining us from California is Shane Watson, with his 2017 Student Academy Award nominated short I Live Herescreening as part of our inaugural showcase programme Rainbow Shorts, a celebration of LGBTQI+ shorts from across the World!

We extend a warm welcome to all our International filmmakers and guests and look forward to greeting them on the red carpet at Flickerfest 2018!

 

FLICKERLAB – A ONE DAY FILMMAKING JOURNEY!

For the serious film buffs and the future Martin Scorcese’s out there, our Flickerlab one day filmmaking intensive presents an amazing opportunity to come and learn awesome new skills from some of the industry’s best!

From the hit Indie film of 2017, That’s not me, comes the husband and wife team of Director Gregory Erdstein and co-writer/lead actress Alice Foulcher who both know a thing or two about creating a low-budget success!

Joining them is award-winning Writer/Director Priscilla Cameron who recently directed Melissa George in the hit feature The Butterfly TreeProducer Bridget Callow-Wright will also be sharing her knowledge and expertise!

They will be joined by Kristina Ceyton (The Nightingale, The Babadook), Polly Staniford (Berlin Syndrome), Marc Furmie (In Like Flynn), Danny Lechevre of FanForce,  Dov Kornits from FilmInk/Umbrella and Lucy Hill from eOne all dispersing priceless information on taking your filmmaking to the next level.

Join us on Friday the 19th of January from 10 am through til 5pm followed by networking drinks with fellow filmmakers and panellists mingling over a glass of vino!  Tickets are available from Moshtix.
