SENSATIONAL SATURDAY AT FLiCKERFEST
Don’t miss the final screenings at Flickerfest this weekend. Join us under the big top and under the stars for our incredible collection of the best short films from across the world and our own backyard, all complimented by a delicious beverage from our beachside festival bar and yummy Mexican food from our very own Mexican Cantina.
Starting at 1:30 pm fill this last school holiday weekend with our FlickerKids Shorts for families.
From tiny goblins to best friends running a cake shop and a pudgy pug in love…there is something for everyone in this delightfully entertaining programme of shorts that will appeal to the kid in everyone.
Then at 4:pm come see our filmmakers of tomorrow with our national SAE FlickerUp Youth Shorts for filmmakers 18 years and under and be amazed at what super clever young filmmakers have to offer in terms of creativity and the freshest storytelling.
At 6:30 pm our Best Of EU Showcase screens in partnership the Delegation of the European Union to Australia.
Journey across Europe in our air-conditioned Spiegeltent and enjoy 9 amazing films in competition for Best EU Short of Flickerfest 2022. Screening in this programme is Swedish audience favourite Shower Boys and the fabulous Polish animated comedy Wall Unit.
At 9:pm, kick back in our alfresco cinema under the stars and enjoy some fabulously upbeat comedy favourites in Short Laughs Comedy 2, a clever off-kilter selections of comedy shorts from across the world, including the delightful black comedy Don vs Lightning starring legendary Scottish actor Peter Mullan, the quirky NZ family comedy with a star wars twist Space Invaders and Nash Edgerton’s superb black comedy Shark.
Flickerfest is a COVID Safe event and we are following government health guidelines to give you a fun festival without the worry. You can read about the festival’s COVID safe plan here.

CLOSING NIGHT AWARDS, SCREENING & AFTER PARTY
Don’t miss short films night of nights this Sunday at Flickerfest. Join us on the red carpet as we celebrate and honour the incredible filmmakers of Flickerfest 2022 with our Flickerfest’s Closing Night Awards Ceremony and winners screening.
Find out who takes home the top honours across a host of prizes that recognise excellence in all areas of the short film craft. Awards include our Academy® Qualifying Panasonic LUMIX Award For Best Australian Short, Flickerfest Best International Short, Yoram Gross Award For Best International Animation and Flickerfest Award For Best Documentary.
After the awards roll out be amazed by a selection of the festivals spectacular winning films under the stars on the big screen. Then toast a glass to our awarded filmmakers at our fully catered closing night afterparty including, delicious beverages, yummy Mexican snacks and DJ Stephen Ferris spinning the tunes til late in the alfresco Flickerfest Festival Garden Bar.
