FANTASTIC FRIDAY AT FLiCKERFEST

You’ve finished the work week! Why not come down and treat yourself with a fantastic programme of short films under the stars, a delicious beverage from our beachside bar and some yummy Mexican food from The Mexican Cantina.

Today at the festival check out our first ever virtual FlickerLab programme presented by SAE Institute Australia online this year in partnership with FanForce. Hear from multi skilled creators as they take you through the entire process of the filmmaking journey, from initial concept through to script, producing, marketing, distribution and the latest cross-platform and alternative distribution methods.  Register and enjoy download encore screenings of all or one panel for 48 hours after the event.

Celebrate all things LGBTIQ+ with our programme of Rainbow Shorts at 6.30pm all curated by award winning filmmaker Craig Boreham (Teenage Kicks, Lonesome). In this programme check out Little Sky about Sky a Chinese American drag sensation who haunted by their childhood memories returns to their hometown to confront their estranged father.

Then at 9pm, Check out Flickerfest’s Love Bites Shorts, a delightful collection of fun shorts that journey through the joys & pitfalls of modern relationships. Come see the world premiere of Aussie film Sex Lives a film where things get complicated when Ali and Sean realise they have entirely different knowledge of each other’s solo sex life and delightful french comedy Lou’s Neighbour which sees Vlads secret crush on his neighbour Lou push him to all lengths.

SENSATIONAL SATURDAY AT FLiCKERFEST

Don’t miss the final weekend of our kaleidoscopic carnival of shorts.

On Saturday at 1.30pm catch FlickerKids a programme of delightfully entertaining programme for shorties that will appeal to the kid in everyone.

At 4.30pm be amazed by incredible shorts from the next generation in our SAE FlickerUp Youth Short film competition for filmmakers from across Australia eighteen years & under.

Then at 6.30 pm catch our best of EU shorts showcasing creative and entertaining shorts handpicked from our International competition and finish off the night at 9pm with a laugh and enjoy our second programme of clever off-kilter selections of comedy shorts from across the world.

FLiCKERKIDS SHORTS

At 1.30pm check out Flickerfest’s delightfully beautiful and inspiring FlickerKids programme of 14 short animations for young kids and families that will appeal to the kid in everyone.  Don’t miss the Australian Premiere of Idodo an animated short film based on a Papua New Guinean folk tale about how reef fish became so colourful. We also welcome the filmmakers of Blockhead And Sparkles And The Flood Of Tears, who will be joining us at the beach to introduce their film.

At 4pm young talent soars at Flickerfest in our SAE FlickerUp Youth Shorts competition. Be inspired and challenged by the wealth of talent from the filmmakers of tomorrow, covering all genres from documentary to dramas and comedy. Check out this fantastic programme that brings our next generation of filmmakers into focus and meet the filmmakers who will be along to introduce their films on the big screen.

BEST OF EU SHOWCASE

At 6.30pm celebrate all things Euro and Flickerfest! in our Best of EU Showcase programme. A creative collection of moving and entertaining EU shorts in competition for the EU Delegation to Australia Award for Best EU Short Film, Don’t miss the world premiere of some masterful filmmaking in The Blanket from Finland about 10-year old Marja who is sent to fetch milk for her baby brother. On the way there are things even more dangerous than the thin ice.

SHORT LAUGHS COMEDY 2

At 9pm join us under the stars at Short Laughs Comedy 2, an incredible collection of clever off-kilter comedy shorts from at home and across the world. Don’t miss the Australian Premiere of delightful NZ comedy Space Invader where Max is a small boy with a big imagination. Him and his Dad form a tight knit crew. But when Dad gets a new girlfriend, Max must find a way to confront this new menace before she steals his dad forever and don’t miss award winning filmmaker Nash Edgerton’s thrilling black comedy Shark, starring Nash and Rose Byrne.
