FLiCKERFEST TOUR IS QUEENSLAND BOUND

The Flickerfest Tour is still full steam ahead after visiting 45 venues nationally and we cant wait to roll out some of our final dates for 2021 in Queensland across the coming month.

This Friday evening we bring the second screening of our Cairns tour showcase with the Best of Australian Shorts lighting up the big screen under the stars at the Cairns Botanic Gardens.

This delightful programme includes the moving Bama from talented emerging indigenous filmmaker Jahvis Loveday, whose family are of the Djiru people of Mission Beach. 2373365.jpg

The film’s title is inspired by the BAMA people which means “Rainforest Mob, or Community” in Far North QLD.

Bama was awarded the Jury Award for Best Short Film and the Audience Award earlier this year as part of Flickerfest’s Byron All Shorts programme at the Flickerfest Tour screening in Mullumbimby.

Throughout October the Flickerfest Tour takes a journey through the Western Downs region of South East Queensland, stopping off in Wandoan on the 16th October, Chinchilla on the 22nd October, Bell on the 23rd October and Meandarra on the 30th October with the Best of Australian Shorts programme.

This specially curated programme features a fabulous selection of award-winning shorts hand-picked from our Bondi programmes including the delightful Smashed.  Shot in Brisbane by brother and sister team and QLD filmmakers Kristie Yates (Producer) and Tyson Yates (writer/director) the film revolves around two twenty-something’s who ‘when faced with the potential of losing their long-term Queensland share house, scheme a haunted plan to keep their home and their smashed avo breakfast.
