Super Saturday at Flickerfest 2018!!
SOUPED-UP SENSATIONAL SATURDAY AT FLiCKERFEST!!
Hooray it’s the weekend, and boy do we have an impressive line-up of programmes in store!
Kicking of at 2 pm is the SAE FlickerUp, celebrating the young Australian filmmakers of tomorrow! Over 20 short films from primary and high school aged school students will screen in competition vying to be crowned Best High School Production, thanks to our friends at SAE Creative Media Institute.
Bringing some European culture to the sunny shores of Bondi is the second of our Best of EU programmes featuring shorts from Hungary, Italy, Sweden, Germany and the heart-warming Who’s Who In Mycology from the Czech Republic; & the incredible short Five by Five from British Director Kate Herron and starring the dashing Idris Elba (The Wire, Luther). Kate Herron will join us all the way from the UK to introduce her film! Joining the line-up is Watu Wote (All Of Us) produced in Kenya by German director Katja Benrath. The film has already won the Academy® Award for Best Student film and is now also short-listed for an Academy® Award for Best Live Action Short. Come and see it for yourself at 4.30 pm Saturday!
We are super-excited for our inaugural Rainbow Shorts programme, a special showcase of LGBTQI+ shorts from across the world, curated by Writer/Director Craig Boreham (Teenage Kicks). Joining us all the way from California is Shane Watson with his Student Academy® Award nominated short I Live Here. We extend a warm Bondi welcome to Shane and to his wonderful film! Come and be a part of movie history at 6.30 pm tomorrow night!
Finishing off this amazing day or short film programmes is the Short Laughs Comedy 2! Once again another sell-out affair we have some super funny shorts from across the globe! We are happy to welcome yet another filmmaker jetting in all the way from Bonnie Scotland, Niamh McKeown, to introduce her hilarious short Good Girls, a perfectly hilarious take on the bad girls of private schools! Welcome Niamh!!!!
Other featuring highlights are the animated Kanye West, a Gwen Stefani doll and the award winning animation Darrel from Spain!
Join the hilarious Lunch Ladies on their quest to become Johnny Depp’s personal chefs in this hilarious short from the US of A!!!
