Tremendous Thursday – Whats on today + highlights of Fabulous Friday!

HIGHLIGHTS OF TREMENDOUS THURSDAY

It might be rainy out there but its super cosy and dry in our indoor theatre and tonight at Flickerfest we add a bit of colour to the beach at 6:30pm with our fantastic Rainbow Shorts programme curated by award winning filmmaker Craig Boreham screening this year in competition for our inaugural Azure Productions Award for Best Rainbow Short. Rub Shoulders with filmmaker Alfie Dale when his film My Brother Is A Mermaid has its Aussie premiere right here at the festival.

Then at 8:45pm, come down to the first of our delightful two programmes about the joys and pitfalls of modern relationships when Love Bites 1 premieres at the festival. Programme highlights include My Planet from writer/director: Valery Carnoy about a baker in his fifties who suffers from failed love with his wife and Jealous Alan, from Director Martin Clark who is a guest of the festival and starring Kate Dickie (Game Of Thrones) about Alan who discovers his best friend Stuart and Angela are secretly dating only to find that jealousness drives him to foil it.

All sessions move inside if there’s rain; so there’s no chance of missing any fabulous shorts at Flickerfest over coming days and don’t forget there’s free parking from 7pm in the beachside carpark!

COMING UP- FABULOUS FRIDAY AT FLiCKERFEST!!!

Start your weekend the right way with some fantastic short film programmes right here at the Beach during Flickerfest 2020’s final weekend.

We start the day off early with FlickerLab, giving filmmakers the chance to immerse in the latest filmmaking trends and spend the day with some of the industry’s leading film experts including Sophie Hyde (Writer/Director: Animals, 52 Tuesdays), Alex White (Producer: Babyteeth), Imogen McCluskey (Co-Writer/Director/Producer: Suburban Wildlife) and Andrew Knight (Writer: Hacksaw Ridge, Ali’s Wedding and The Water Diviner).

Our FlickerLab panelists will be offering up their expertise and wisdom with a range of panels designed to enhance and develop creative ideas and get films noticed in the marketplace.

Then at 6:30pm, come down to the second of our two programmes about the joys and pitfalls of modern relationships when Love Bites 2 premieres at the festival.

Programme highlights include the wickedly funny and charming Toomas Beneath The Valley OF The Wild Wolves from Director/Producer Chiantis Lundgren about Toomas who after losing a well paid engineering job gets cornered into working as a gigolo to support his family and The Toll Road from Director Tom Riley and produced and starring American actress Lizzy Caplan about a a sweet but young couple who on their ninth anniversary face a boorish adversary that threatens to ruin their big day.

At 8:45pm, join us for a good laugh when  Short Laughs Comedy 1 debuts at Flickerfest. Add a little chuckle to your Friday night with these off-kilter selection of shorts from across the world. Highlights include Division Series from Writer/Director Ho Kwon Kim and producer Jin Soo Lee. Lee who is a guest of the the festival, will be here to introduce his film. In this programme also is A Family Affair, our much loved opening night film from Writer/Director Florence Keith-Roach about Annabelle who wakes up in a strangers bedroom on her 30th birthday.
