Fabulous Friday – Whats on today + highlights of Spectacular Saturday!

HIGHLIGHTS OF FABULOUS FRIDAY

It may be rainy outside but its super cosy down here at our funky Flickerfest Grease Inspired Bar and Indoor theatre at the Bondi pavilion and all sessions in case of rain are screened in doors. Kick start your weekend with a sensational programme of love and comedy inspired shorts tonight during Flickerfest 2020’s final weekend.

Earlier today  FlickerLab, gave filmmakers the chance to immerse themselves in the latest filmmaking trends as they spent the day with some of the industry’s leading film experts including Sophie Hyde (Writer/Director: Animals, 52 Tuesdays), Alex White (Producer: Babyteeth), Imogen McCluskey (Co-Writer/Director/Producer: Suburban Wildlife) and Andrew Knight (Writer: Hacksaw Ridge, Ali’s Wedding and The Water Diviner).

At 6:30pm we cant wait to share our delightful and charming programme about the joys and pitfalls of modern relationships Love Bites 2, a heartwarming ode to love in all forms.

Highlights include the wickedly funny and charming Toomas Beneath The Valley Of The Wild Wolves from Director/Producer Chiantis Lundgren about Toomas who after losing a well paid engineering job gets cornered into working as a gigolo to support his family and The Toll Road from Director Tom Riley and produced and starring American actress Lizzy Caplan about  a sweet young couple who on their ninth anniversary face a boorish adversary that threatens to ruin their big day.

At 8:45pm, join us for a good laugh when  Short Laughs Comedy 1 debuts at Flickerfest. Add a little chuckle to your Friday night with these off-kilter selection of shorts from across the world. Highlights include Division Series from Writer/Director Ho Kwon Kim and producer Jin Soo Lee. Lee who is a guest of the the festival, will be here to introduce his film,  also screening is A Family Affair, our much loved opening night film from writer/director Florence Keith-Roach about Annabelle who wakes up rather confused in a strangers bedroom on her 30th birthday only to meet a cast of characters who cause even more confusion.

Stay dry inside the cosy Flickerfest indoor theatre this wet weekend and let our inspiring world of shorts warm your heart this final festival weekend See you down at the beach for another huge day of creative and inspiring shorts!

COMING UP- SPECTACULAR SATURDAY AT FLiCKERFEST!!!

Tomorrow at Flickerfest, celebrate with Flickerfest with a fantastic jam packed lineup of shorts programmes.

It all kicks off at 2PM with our SAE FlickerUp School Shorts competition where our primary school students and young filmmakers under the age of 18 showcase their films and we celebrate the future filmmakers of tomorrow.

Then at 4PM our inaugural ASEAN Region Competition with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Australia now ASEAN, kicks off where we celebrate the stories of the ASEAN region and filmmakers will battle it out for best ASEAN short film. Three Filmmakers will be here from the ASEAN programme, The Writer/Director from The Tuk Tuk Of The Fifth Kind Anysay Keola from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Stay Awake, Be Ready producer Tran Van Thi from Vietnam and Limbo Director John Luke Miraflor from Philippines.

At 6:30pm, join us for the highly anticipated EU Short Film Showcase of 2020, which is a selection of moving and entertaining shorts from the European Union highlights include the recently Oscar nominated Memorable and Yorgos Lanthimos incredible new short film Nimic starring Matt Dillon which both have their Australian Premiere at the festival.

Then at 8:45pm laugh yourself silly with our selection of off-kilter comedy shorts from across the world with Short Laughs Comedy 2. Highlights include the hilarious  Are You Hungry? from Finland hitting our Bondi screens first before it heads to Sundance and the super quirky UK comedy Nortenos from the group Grandmas -winner of the Audience award at Encounters Film Festival.
