Wonderous Wednesday Day 6 at Flickerfest 2018!

ANOTHER INCREDIBLE DAY AT FLiCKERFEST 2018!!

The wild weather didn’t keep dedicated film audiences from enjoying yet another sensational day of films at Flickerfest Tuesday!
First off the FlickerKids screening had audiences young and old laughing and generally leaving with a warm fuzzy feeling inside!!!
Our two consecutive in-competition Documentary programmes moved the audiences and took them into world’s previously unknown.
The final programme for the evening, Best of Australian 6, once again drew a sold-out audience eager to devour the local stories from across Oz!

JOURNEY AROUND AUSTRALIA AND THE WORLD AT FLiCKERFEST’S WONDEROUS WEDNESDAY!

Today we will take you around the world once again with some incredible award winning and Academy® Award shortlisted films from various corners of the Globe, from South Africa to Denmark, Iran to Poland with a few stops in between in our Best of International 4 competition programme featuring the multi award winning short Facing Mecca from Switzerland.  Shortlisted for an Academy Award for Best Live Action short, Facing Mecca is based on the true story of a Syrian refugee in Switzerland who has to deal with bureaucratic hurdles after the death of his wife.

Following up is the incredible experimental animation Ugly out of Germany, ironically a beautiful story about kindness, respect and co-existence as an ugly cat finds a soulmate in a mystical chief!

At 8.45 pm we will be screening the final Australian programme, Best of Australian 7, before our esteemed jury put their heads together to decide which Australian short film will take home the Academy® Award accredited Best Australian Short film.

Best of Australian 7, takes a journey into a world beyond with the magical Oracle, a mystical reimagining of the Slavic tale ‘Baba Yaga’ from filmmaker Zohie Castellano, Oracle explores the Maiden, Mother and Crone archetypes to question our relationships with nature, time, and our own intuition.

Aussie actress Rose Byrne and her partner ‘IRL’ Bobby Cannavale will take you on a journey into a world where humans living alongside television show monsters, of which they provide the voices for in the charming Martha the Monster.
