Flickerfest 2018 programming updates!
Flickerfest 2018 programme announcement!
We are pleased to announce that Flickerfest will be including a very special new program for 2018. In celebration of the ‘Yes’ vote and the same sex marriage bill being passed in Australia, we are creating a unique LGBTQI programme of short films – Rainbow Shorts. Curated by Teenage Kicks Writer/Director, and Flickerfest team member, Craig Boreham, this special programme will be a showcase of the very best Rainbow short films from across the World.
We are also thrilled to have our major National partner SAE QANTM back on board once again to present the SAE FlickerUp award for our National Schools competition program for Australian Primary and Secondary students. FlickerUp will return once again to showcase the young, upcoming Australian filmmakers of tomorrow. The programming team are amazed by the outstanding level of amazing talent from our under 18 year old youth!
Also returning this year is our Best of EU programme, a specially curated selection of shorts from across the European continent, culminating in the EU in Australia award for best short film sponsored by our National partner, the European Union delegation to Australia. The Best of EU programme will also feature in the Melbourne and Perth legs of the Flickerfest 2018 Tour bringing the stories of Europe to various corners of the Australian continent!
Some big decisions are currently being made as our programming team put together our 2018 Academy® Award and BAFTA qualifying competition programmes. Download Official Australian Selection press release here.
We look forward to sharing our final 2018 programmes live on our website on the 12th of December with tickets on sale the same day. Stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for further announcements.
