#FLICKERFEST2020 IS ON THE MOVE!

After a fabulous weekend of sharing a selection of amazing shorts from across the Bondi Competition programme with our friends in Adelaide and Narrabri, Flickerfest is on the move once again and taking some incredible short films along for the journey!  This week we hit up Melbourne, Newcastle and Toowoomba.

Not in any of these locations?  Never fear, the #Flickerfest2020 tour will be heading to BrisbaneNarrogin and Gunnedah the following week with more opportunities to catch some award winning shorts in a town near you!  Head to flickerfest.com.au/tour for full details!

MELBOURNE – WEDNESDAY 12TH FEBRUARY

ImageThis coming Wednesday night we will be stopping off at the Palace Kino Cinemas in Melbourne with a very special programme of fantastic shorts from Melbourne based filmmakers which screened in competition in Bondi with our Best of Melbourne shorts programme.

Catch the Flickerfest 2020 Best Short Australian Animation winner Rebooted from Melbourne director Michael Shanks and the Melbourne Premiere of  Brendan Young’s The Widow starring Steve Bastoni (Neighbours, Wentworth) and Daniela Farinacci (Lantana, Glitch) about a Sicilian widow who fights for her life when members of the local Calabrian Mafia murder her husband and try to seize control of his produce business and Bloom from Isobelle Amie set on Junie’s 18th Birthday when the secret of her late period and potential pregnancy puts her sisterhood and close family ties at risk of breaking apart.

The screening will be followed up by a fabulous party with drinks from our generous sponsors Rosnay Organic WinesGage Road Brewing Co. and Parkers Organic Juices along with nibbles from Miss Chu giving audiences the opportunity to mingle with the local filmmaking talent!

NEWCASTLE – SATURDAY 15TH FEBRUARY

ImageThis Saturday night we head to the Events Cinemas, Kotara in Newcastle with the Best of Australian Shorts which includes the charming Chicken from Alana Hicks who was awarded Best Direction in an Australian Short Film at the Flickerfest Awards Ceremony in Bondi and Best Cinematography in an Australian Short Film winner Blackwood from director Kalu Oji who lived his formative years in Lambton and attended North Lambton Primary School and Lambton High School.

Following up is the Short Laughs Comedy programme which features Flickerfest 2020 Best EU Short Film winner The Land Over There (Drubenland) from Germany in which some ‘odd wall’ falls down – and suddenly everything is in chaos.

There will also be a Festival party in between the two programme screenings with food and drinks from our generous sponsors Rosnay Organic WinesGage Roads Brewing Co and Parkers Organic Juices.

TOOWOOMBA – SATURDAY 15TH FEBRUARY

ImageThis Saturday night we also head north to our friends at The Empire Theatre in Toowoomba taking along the Best of International shorts and the Best of Australian programmes.

Highlights from the Best of International Shorts programme include the Academy® Award nominated Mémorable from France which takes you into the world of Louis, a painter who is experiencing strange events and whose world seems to be mutating and the super charming The Jackpot, highly commended in the Best EU Short Film category, out of Germany, the story of Albert who finds himself involved in a fateful game of chance that leads him to his true love, thanks to his best friend, the chicken.
