Australia now ASEAN Flickerfest 2020 Competition in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia now ASEAN program will screen at Flickerfest in January 2020 at Bondi.

This competition is FREE to enter for films made in ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia); by ASEAN permanent residents & citizens; films must be under 35mins & completed in the last 2 years.

Selected films will screen at the festival at Bondi Pavilion, Bondi Beach.

3 selected finalists will WIN a trip to their screening at Flickerfest 2020 (including: airfares, accommodation, travel expenses, development and networking opportunities with industry professionals whilst in Australia).

We cant wait to announce our programme in December 2019 for our Academy® Accredited and BAFTA recognised festival.

2020 is promising to be a bumper programme with FLiCKERFEST celebrating our 29th year of screening the best short films from Australia and around the world across 10 days & nights of our competition and special showcase programmes once again on Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach.

Australia now ASEAN FLiCKERFEST 2020 Awards

Australia now ASEAN Award for Best ASEAN Region Short Film
Prize: $1,000 AUD supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • To be eligible for the Australia now ASEAN competition at Flickerfest all shorts must be no more than 35 minutes in length.
  • All ASEAN productions screened at Flickerfest 2020 must have been completed within 2 years of the entry closing date (Fri 8 Nov 2019) and must be in English or have English subtitles.
  • All selected films must be available to screen on H.264 or ProRes file.

Films submitted for the ASEAN Competition do not have to adhere to the premiere guidelines. For any questions re eligibility please email: [email protected]

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Film Selection

If your film is selected for competition or an out-of-competition showcase, you will be advised by 6th December, where possible. We will then require all successful entries to Flickerfest 2020 to complete an acceptance form to be emailed back to us, and arrangements made for files to arrive at the festival before the Mon 16th December 2019.

Selected Films

Flickerfest expects selected filmmakers to provide a digital file for screening quality as either a H.264 or Apple Pro Res file. Australian filmmakers are expected to send files on hard drive or USB sticks. (in exceptional circumstances filmmakers can be provided with an FTP/transfer service)

Flickerfest Australian Tour

Following the festival, a selection of films screened in the International and Australian competitions plus some in out-of-competition programmes will be toured around Australia. If your film is unable to tour it WILL remain eligible for competition. All touring films will be paid screening royalties.

Filmmakers and Guests

Unfortunately we are unable to assist all filmmakers with their travel to or within Australia. However we will assist with accommodation for all international guests accredited to the festival and warmly welcome filmmakers who are able to attend the Festival or National Tour.

Rights Granted By The Producer

The Producer grants Flickerfest the right to reproduce part of their film (maximum 1 min) for the purposes only of promoting the festival. This may be as part of a compilation; for exhibition by any means including theatrical screening, internet; for cable, satellite, microwave or by any medium not yet devised.
