FLiCKERFEST TOUR CONTINUES TO REACH FAR AND WIDE

Over the next two weeks the Flickerfest tour criss-crosses the country with some fabulous filmmakers joining us along the way to share their short films with our audiences!

Starting off this weekend, we return to the fabulous Griffith Regional Theatre in Griffith for one night only with our Best of Australian Shorts programme, featuring the fun dark comedy Jump, produced by Jake Speer.  Jake, an accomplished actor and producer, well-known and loved for his role as Oscar McGuire on Home and Away, grew up in the nearby Riverina town of Leeton.  He is super-excited to be heading along to the Griffith screening this Saturday night to introduce his film and to connect with local homegrown audiences!

MEET THE FILMMAKERS IN YOUR TOWN

The Flickerfest Tour also hits the road in Queensland and Western Australia next week with some incredible films and some incredibly talented filmmakers joining us!On Thursday evening we bring our Best of Australian Shorts programme to HOTA on the Gold Coast featuring an incredible selection of short films including many created by Queensland filmmakers and featuring QLD locations .including Pools by Luisa Martiri starring GC based actress Malina Hamilton, Liquid Moonlight by Hannah Ariotti and Anna McGahan. Inferno by Katherine Chediak Putnam,   Torch Song by Stephen Lance and BAMA by Jahvis Loveday and Smashed by Kirstie and Tyson Yates. You can also  catch The Exit Plan, directed by Angus Wilkinson, currently director’s assistant to Baz Luhrmann on Elvis, in post-production on the Gold Coast.

Join the filmmakers and Flickerfest Festival Director Bronwyn Kidd for a Q&A following the screening and connect with them as they share their filmmaking journeys.
The same weekend the Flickerfest tour also heads to the west returning to the delightful Thornton Theatre in Narrogin.  With thanks to our friends at Arts Narrogin we will be showcasing the very best in short film across three nights, Kicking  off on Thursday 25th March with the Best of International Shorts programme featuring our #flickerfest2021 Best International Short Film Award winner, The Present, currently nominated for an Academy® Award.On Friday 26th March we present the Best of Australian Shorts programme featuring the beautiful  Painting By Numbers from Perth animator Radheya Jegatheva in attendance to introduce his film and connect with local audiences. We  wrap up 3 magical nights of short film in Narrogin with our Short Laughs Comedy programme, lighting up the big screen on Saturday 27th March.

On Saturday 27th March we head to the Darling Downs QLD and the Empire Theatre in Toowoomba screening the Best of Australian Shorts programme.  We are super excited to be able to share the hit comedy Smashed, directed by Brisbane filmmaker Tyson Yates, produced by his sister Kristie Yates and starring Brisbane based actor Kyle McCallion.  We are delighted that Kristie and Kyle will be joining us in Toowoomba together with Flickerfest Festival Director Bronwyn Kidd for a Q&A following the screening.
