Perth, you showed up.
Across three big nights at Luna Palace Leederville Outdoor Cinema, we were thrilled to see packed houses and buzzing audiences embracing The Cream Of Short Films on tour. From the Best of Australian Shorts Perth  on Thursday, to a powerful Best of International Shorts programme on Friday, and a huge night of laughs at Short Laughs Comedy on Saturday — the energy across the weekend reminded us exactly why we love bringing Flickerfest on the road.

A sincere thank you to everyone who came along, and to the filmmakers whose work lit up the Perth screen. Your support keeps short film thriving.

Next Stop: Mullumbimby
This weekend, Mullumbimby welcomes Flickerfest as the 2026 tour rolls into the Northern Rivers for a full weekend of film.

Alongside our curated Best of Australian Shorts and Best of International Shorts programmes — drawn from over 3,700 entries to this year’s Academy Award®-qualifying festival — Mullum audiences can also experience the popular Byron All Shorts programme, a dynamic mix of standout local Northern Rivers films, offering something for everyone.

For aspiring and emerging filmmakers, we’re also hosting a free Filmmaking Workshop, with Director/ Actor Wayne Blair, offering practical insights into crafting and delivering a compelling short film — an opportunity to connect, learn and be inspired within Mullumbimby’s vibrant creative community.

Whether you’re a passionate film lover or ready to make your own, there’s something for you this weekend!

As part of the Flickerfest 2026 tour, and in conjunction with Screen NSW, we’re proud to present a special free industry workshop designed for filmmakers ready to expand their storytelling beyond the short form.

Join us on Sat 28th February at 2.00pm as Award-winning director and actor Wayne Blair brings his wealth of experience across film, television and theatre. His directing credits include the acclaimed feature film The Sapphires, episodes of Total Control and Mystery Road, and extensive work across Australia’s screen industry. As a storyteller who has successfully moved between short-form and long-form content, Wayne offers rare, practical insight into making that transition.

Shorts To Long Form will explore how to develop ideas beyond the festival circuit, navigate industry pathways, build creative momentum, and position your work for features and series. Expect honest conversation, actionable advice and the opportunity to engage directly with one of Australia’s leading screen creatives.

If you’re serious about taking your filmmaking to the next level, this workshop is for you.
