FLiCKERKIDS SHOWCASE PROGRAMME!

Our delightful programme of 10 animated shorts for shorties and families will be appeal to the kid in everyone, through a  programme of charming shorts from across the world. Highlights include include the magical Paolo’s Happiness where a man and his cat create a flower filled world and the delightful Australian animation, Bellysaurus where a small dinosaur dreams of being a big dinosaur, until danger strikes and she learns its whats inside that counts ! TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FICTION IN OUR DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION PROGRAMMES

Catch two inspiring programmes featuring 13 amazing real stories from at home and across the world, all vying for the prestigious Academy® qualifying award for Best Documentary Short, including the moving and intimate Away, recent winner of the IDFA award for best short documentary, that gives personal and heartfelt insight into two Ukrainian teenagers, trying to forge a new life for themselves and a host of  fellow refugee kids, far from their war torn home.

Don’t miss this incredible cinematic celebration of all things Euro and Flickerfest in this programme showcasing the best of moving and entertaining shorts from the European Union countries, all competing for the EU Delegation to Australia Award for Best EU Short Film. Highlights include the moving Danish short Ivalu from the Academy® Award winning writer/director Anders Walters, a mesmerising and heartfelt drama/thriller where the viewer is transported to the stunning landscapes of Greenland and the life of an inuit family, based on the award winning Danish graphic novel “Ivalu” by Morten Dürr and Lars Horneman.

An incredible 64 shorts from across Oz will be in the running for the Academy® Qualifying Panasonic Australia LUMIX Award for Best Australian Short Film.Highlights include the world premieres of Six Of One starring Isobel Lucas (Transformers, Bosch & Rocket) from Writer/Director Minka Bleakley; Waves starring Susie Porter, filmed locally at Tamarama Beach; kooky comedy The Fritz, starring Trevor Jamieson (Rabbit Proof Fence, Storm Boy); plus Too Many Ethnics by award winning writer Vonne Patiag, (Here Out West, The Usual Suspects).
