What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than catching the most remarkable true tales from around the globe.  The second of our incredible Academy® Qualifying competition programmes, Best of Documentary Shorts 2, features the multi-award winning Long Line Of Ladies from the USA, in which agirl and her community prepare for her Ihuk, the once-dormant coming of age ceremony of the Karuk tribe of Northern Californias. Along with the fabulously unique Backflip, in which an AI is trained to do a backflip in place of its creator.

TRAVEL THE GLOBE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL SHORTS COMPETITION PROGRAMMES

We kick off the first Saturday at Flickerfest with the first of five incredible international competition programmes featuring 37 of the very best short films from across the globe. What would you do if you found out you could control the world (and your boss) via a model railway after being passed over for a big promotion at work? Well, find out what Miranda does in the UK film Dream Big, and maybe take some inspiration too!

Born to Cry is a delightfully quirky comedy-romance that takes you to highly unexpected places, in only the way great short film can! It is one of the Festival Director’s favourites, and will be sure to impress on both Opening Night and in Best of International Shorts 3
