LAST SCREENING OF OUR OFFICIAL COMPETITIONS

It’s Wednesday and day 6 at Flickerfest and we just tipped over our halfway point of the festival. We’ve had a fabulously successful festival so far and we are excited to still have lots of incredible sessions to share. Catch some of the most clever and inspiring short films in the last two screenings of our official competition today! At 6.30PM don’t miss our Best Of International Shorts 5 programme where you can meet the lead actor, Benjamin Sawyer from the NZ film Rochelle and the animated Slovakian film, Hello Summer about sun, sea, beaches, fun family holidays and all the things that could go wrong.
At 9PM enjoy an evening of films under the stars at our outdoor screening of the Best Of Australian Shorts 7, featuring the heartfelt And The Ocean Agreed about a woman with dementia who finds herself after a swim in the ocean and the intriguing Basketball Bert about masculinity and body image between rival basketball teams and friends. BEST OF EU SHORTS SHOWCASE

At 6:30PM we highlight 8 of the Best of EU Shorts Showcase selected from our Oscar Qualifying competition, in partnership with The European Union Delegation To Australia. Don’t miss the finely crafted and engaging German film This Is Not A Character, This Is Betrayal, about a mother who takes her son to his first reading of his autobiographical debut, Der Salon and then check out Game Rules, an action-packed Swedish short about a young handball team who are about to participate in their first major tournament until adults interrupt the game asking who’s allowed to play…

SHORT LAUGHS COMEDY 1

At 9PM, warm your heart with our first comedy programme Short Laughs Comedy 1, featuring 9 hilarious shorts. Laugh out loud at the clever Jane Austen’s Period Drama where Miss Estrogenia gets a surprise right in the middle of her long-awaited marriage proposal and the brilliantly shot Officer Stanley about a police officer who embarrasses himself on the job and gets wound up in a string of lies and confusion to cover up the situation. Then be delighted by the outrageous and memorable musical Mugged! about a gay black man and an illegal immigrant who meet in the dead of night on the dingy streets of London.
