Location, location, location!! It’s all about location and we cant wait for you to join us for a ten day fiesta of short film, kicking off this Friday 20 Jan in the newly revamped Bondi Pavilion. Immerse yourself in moving and inspiring stories in our alfresco Lawn cinema in the North Courtyard and comfortable and air conditioned Indoor cinema on the shores of Bondi Beach.
Enjoy the best of the worlds cinema with fresh ocean breezes and some stunning food from Glory Days who have created a menu for our panoramic beachside bar befitting the incredible films on offer. You can grab a delicious snack pre or post screening and a chilled beverage including Four Pillars Gin, Gage Roads Brewing, Rosnay Organic Wines and PS Organic juices to enjoy overlooking the Bondi sands or in your cinema seat.

BEST OF DOCUMENTARY 1
Be Immersed in the exotic world of Syria in our Best of Documentary 1 programme, the first of our two incredible Academy® Qualifying Documentary competition programmes, featuring 13 short films from at home and across the world. Highlights include the highly engaging The Syrian Cosmonaut. Meet Muhammed Faris the first Syrian to go to outer space and learn of his intimate and moving story, as his ideas for a free Syria go against his countries politics and he is forced to flee. Told using both animation and live action this film is a stunning first person story of hope in challenging times.

Be inspired at the first screening of Flickerfest 2022 with our Best of International 1 programme handpicked from over 3200 entries. From the Netherlands comes the joyful and deliciously quirky Brodeo about fun loving Jildou whose over involved mother has a view for her future that she wants no part of. Despite being confined to a wheel chair this party loving gal is determined to overcome all obstacles to get back to her previous life in unusual and charming ways.
TRAVEL THE GLOBE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL SHORTS COMPETITION PROGRAMMES
BEST OF INTERNATIONAL 2 HIGHLIGHTS
Meet UK writer/Director Pip Swallow whose travelled to Flickerfest to present her delightful short film Dream Big, starring the sassy Miranda who after being passed over for a promotion learns she can take her power back via her new found ability to control the world through her model railway. Pip’s bittersweet comedy will surprise and inspire in Best of International Shorts 2. This intriguing short film will be in the running for our Academy® Qualifying Best International Animation at Flickerfest 2023 screening alongside 40 other incredible International shorts. CELEBRATE THE MAGIC OF EUROPEAN FILM
Dont miss our Best of EU Showcase, an incredible cinematic celebration of all things Euro and Flickerfest, screening the best of moving and entertaining shorts from nine European Union countries, all competing for the EU Delegation to Australia Award for Best EU Short Film. Experience the Australian premiere of the intimate and stunning Greek film, a multi- festival award winner, AirHostess-737 where a flight attendant embarrassed by her adult braces deals both with turbulence on board the plane and in her emotional life.
