FLiCKERFEST HEADS TO FINAL WEEKEND

Image

It’s Thursday and Day 5 at Flickerfest and we may have reached the midpoint of our festival, but there are still so many incredible films to experience that we can’t wait to share.

It’s a huge day for filmmaker career development, as our popular FlickerLab presented by AFTRS returns for an all day journey from Shorts to features. From 10 am to 5pm we give a warm welcome to our AFTRS FlickerLab film industry expert panelists who come to meet and share their wisdom with our emerging filmmakers. Dive into a day of the creativity and business of content creation with Australian writers, directors, producers, actors, and industry experts!

At 6.30pm, join us for a celebration of LGBTQI+ stories from around the world in our Rainbow Shorts programme. Be the first to catch the World Premiere of outstanding short F**ked, which raises questions many of us secretly ask ourselves, by UK director Sara Harrak and admire extravagant performative actions from a group of queer activists who denounce the disastrous exploitation by the country’s largest coal mine in the Colombian short Flowers From Another Patio (Flores Del Otro Patio). This outstanding programme is curated by award-winning queer director Craig Boreham. Presented by the Star Observer.

At 9pm, experience incredible joy and a belly laugh under the stars with Short Laughs Comedy. Have your heart-warmed by charming Irish short Scrumpy by Wri/Dir/Prod Dan Holmwood and be the guest at a Turkish wedding day at Espace Venise in the hilarious story of unrequited love Fatih the Conqueror, by French/Turkish Wri/Dir Onur Yagiz. Presented by Time Out.

And don’t forget nothing rains on Flickerfest’s short film parade! If the clouds are bursting our indoor theatre is cosy and beckoning.
