FLiCKERFEST 2020 HAS ARRIVED!

Launching tonight is our Flickerfest Opening night extravaganza of film, fabulous food, fine wine and funky tunes overlooking fabulous Bondi Beach!

We can’t wait to see you on the Red Carpet this evening and share with you a selection of some of the fabulous films we will be showcasing across the next 10 days, may the short film smorgasbord begin!

SUPER SATURDAY AT FLiCKERFEST!!!
Tomorrow our esteemed jury members will be in house at Flickerfest as we kick off the beginning of our competition programme screenings.

Join us on a journey across the globe with our Best of International 1 programme featuring White Echo, directed by Chloe Sevigny, the Academy Award nominated animation Memorable and The Jackpot with director Alice von Gwinner joining us from Germany to introduce her film.

The first of our Best of Australian competition programmes will follow at 4 pm which includes the amazing hand drawn and painted animated film Sohrab And Rustum, Stef Smith’s Way Out Assistance starring Kate Box (Wentworth, Rake) and the intriguing the Living Room from Jessica Barclay Lawton.

Following up at 6.30 pm is the Best of Australian 2 with The Diver from Jamie Helmer and Michael Leonard,an exploration of the moods and textures within the world of a diver, which premiered at Venice International Film Festival in 2019 and the breathtaking The Sand That Ate The Sea from award winning photographer Matthew Thorne.

Wrapping up our Super Saturday is the Best of Australian 3 competition programme which includes the animated The Grave Of St Oran, narrated by the masterful Neil Gaiman and based on his poem In Relig Odhrain, the super charming Rebooted from Michael Shanks about an ageing stop motion animated movie-star skeleton and Ben Briand’s Armour starring Sam Smith (The Nightingale, Home & Away).

Can’t make it to Bondi over the next ten days?  You can now catch some of the highlights of the 2019 Australian competition programme in the skies thanks to our friends at Virgin Australia Inflight Entertainment.

The programme includes Gracie Otto’s Desert Dash, our 2019 Best Australian Short Film Award winner Yulubidyi – Until The End, Birdie, Birdie from Shelly Lauman and the award winning Judas Collar.
