This week, Bondi Pavilion was alive with sequins, sass and cinematic magic as we filmed the brand new Flickerfest 2026 trailer, inspired by the iconic Aussie classic The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert. Featuring a dazzling cast, a passionate local crew, and some seriously talented creatives, the trailer is a joyful celebration of community, creativity, and pure cinematic magic, all in true Flickerfest style. We’ve also been busy viewing a record almost 3,600 entries from filmmakers across Australia and around the world, and we can’t wait to share this incredible line-up as we mark our 35th birthday in 2026.

The Flickerfest 2025 Tour is now on the road, first stop Perth. Join us for 3 Spectacular Nights at LUNA Leederville, Fri 20 – 22 Feb. Don’t miss Flickerfest celebrating 30 years in Perth in 2025, returning to the Luna outdoor, presenting a smorgasbord of amazing short films from Australia and the world over 3 big nights.
Next stop Mullumbimby! Flickerfest and iQ inc are back for 2025, kicking off our 3-day festival of short films at the Mullumbimby Civic Hall, Thursday 27th February – Saturday 1st March.
This year’s smorgasbord of over 40 incredible short films are handpicked from a record 3,500 entries received for Flickerfest’s Academy® and BAFTA Qualifying short film festival screened recently in Bondi.
Highlights enjoying their Northern Rivers premieres include much loved festival award winners, screening alongside exciting, fresh local Northern Rivers talent.

After a highly successful 10 day festival at Bondi the 34th annual FLiCKERFEST International and Australian awards were announced this evening at a star-studded ceremony at Bondi Beach.
Attended by celebrated guests from the Australian film industry, filmmakers and jury, the Closing Night ceremony honoured the esteemed entrants in this year’s competition and FLiCKERFEST’s Academy® Qualifying Awards, including the Flickerfest Award for Best International Short Film, Yoram Gross Award for Best International Animation, Panasonic LUMIX Award for Best Australian Short Film & Flickerfest Award for Best Documentary.
The Flickerfest Short Film Awards continue to cement the festival’s global position as a leading International Short film festival on the world stage.
FLiCKERFEST’s Festival Director BRONWYN KIDD has said: “We are thrilled that the 34th Flickerfest 2025 has been such a success, with many filmmakers present to introduce their films, passionate crowds and great enthusiasm expressed for the programmes screened. It’s been great to see short films so warmly embraced by audiences across our ten-day event. I would like to congratulate all of the films selected for Flickerfest in competition this year, our jury for their dedication and all of tonight’s award winners.” Flickerfest will now hit the road on a 40+ venue national tour to all states and territories across Australia.
