The Flickerfest Tour has been spreading the short film love across the country, lighting up screens from coast to coast, and we’re not slowing down yet!

This July we will be celebrating NAIDOC in Byron Bay and Kalgoorlie and Flickerfest will be hitting the big screen in Merimbula, Darwin and Katherine. Tour Dates here.

As we continue to celebrate the films of our 2025 festival far and wide we are also thrilled to announce that entries are now open for Flickerfest 2026 and we can’t wait to see this years crop of amazing short film gems.

Join us for a special evening of powerful First Nations storytelling as Flickerfest, Arakwal BOBBAC and iQ Inc proudly present our annual NAIDOC Week screening, celebrating this year’s theme: ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy’.This inspiring collection of short films showcases standout stories from emerging and established Indigenous creatives, from the award-winning The Fix-It-Man And Fix-It-Wooman, made by artists from Alice Springs’ Yarrenyty Arltere Town Camp, to NT connected gems Hydraulic and Farm Block A67, and the moving digital artwork Jarda Bura, Gurri Bura, Jarda Ngarli, Gurri Ngarli (Senior Woman, Young Woman) from the Pilbara. Rounding out the selection is the compelling documentary Echoes starring Kingscliffe resident David Nicholls, directed by his son Dylan Nicholls.

Don’t miss this vibrant night of cinema that honours culture, connection, and the voices shaping the future.All proceeds support the Arakwal Bundjalung of Byron Bay Corporation.

We’re also thrilled to bring this powerful programme to Orana Cinemas, Kalgoorlie on Thursday 10th July as part of their NAIDOC Week celebrations.

We are thrilled to be returning to the Deckchair Cinema in Darwin on Saturday, 19th July.For one night only, experience two unmissable programmes celebrating the best in Australian storytelling.

Kicking off the evening at 7:00pm is the Best of Australian Shorts, a dynamic showcase of homegrown talent and cinematic excellence. 

Then at 9:00pm, be captivated by eight powerful films from some of the brightest voices in Indigenous cinema today, as our Indigenous Spotlight Shorts programme showcases bold, original storytelling from extraordinary First Nations filmmakers.

Celebrating talent from the Northern Territory, Hydraulic, directed by Nicole Hutton Lewis, who grew up in the NT, follows a father and son on a wild goose chase, brimming with heart and humour.  Another standout is Farm Block A67, a compelling work by Indigenous filmmakers Jason Haji-Ali and Simone Detourbet, a writer and director from Darwin who draws major inspiration from her childhood and connection to country and the red dirt of the Top End.Don’t miss this unforgettable night of creativity, culture and connection on the big screen.

We’re thrilled to be bringing the Best of Australian Shorts to Katherine Cinema 3 on Thursday 24th July at 7pm, showcasing bold and brilliant storytelling from some of the country’s most exciting filmmakers.

This inspiring selection highlights the richness of Australian culture and identity on screen. Highlights include the quirky and clever Made By Us, a playful gem written, directed, produced and performed by the multi-talented Hannah Dougherty. The Dog features a beautifully moving performance from Kate Walshe (Grey’s Anatomy), while The Audition, directed by Dee Dogan, follows a young Kurdish woman as she bravely pursues her dreams, navigating the complexities of identity, family expectations, and self-belief.

Audiences will also catch a vibrant mix of award winners and festival favourites in the line-up, a true celebration of short film at its finest.Grab your friends and join us for a night of unforgettable Aussie shorts, entertaining, moving, and unmissably original.
