The Flickerfest National Tour continues across Queensland and regional NSW this March, with our biggest week yet, bringing The Cream Of Short Films to six fantastic venues.
Audiences will experience standout highlights from our recent Bondi festival, including award-winning shorts, Australian premieres and powerful stories from both local and international filmmakers. Leading the Best of International Shorts programme lineup is the Oscar® winning short The Singers, fresh from its recent Academy Award® win and Australian premiere at Flickerfest, screening alongside fellow Oscar® nominee A Friend of Dorothy, starring Miriam Margolyes and Stephen Fry.
The Best of Australian Shorts programme brings together some of the standout Australian stories from this year’s festival, including Baby Shower, written and directed by Matt Day and starring Hugo Weaving, Packed Away from director/actress Michala Banas, (McLeod’s Daughter’s), and the moving drama Tuesday Tuesday featuring Peter Phelps. Selected venues will also showcase films with local connections fresh from Flickerfest.
These Best of International Shorts and Best of Australian Shorts programmes will screen at all venues below, except Sawtell, which will feature our Short Laughs Comedy programme and the Best Of Australian Shorts Gold Coast line up will feature local QLD highlights.
The Flickerfest tour is supported by Screen NSW, Screen Queensland and Screen Australia.
NAMBOUR
Wednesday 25 – Thursday 26 March | Nambour Cinema
Flickerfest returns to Nambour Cinema for two spectacular nights showcasing the Best of International Shorts programme Wed 25th March and the Best of Australian Shorts – Nambour programme, Thur 26th March.
A highlight of the Best Of Australian Shorts programme, screening Thur 26 Mar, 7pm is the hilarious Laterz directed by QLD born & raised Chelsea Ingram, who grew up on the Sunshine Coast and attended Buderim Mountain Primary School. Fresh from winning Best Comedy Short Film at Flickerfest 2026, Laterz is guaranteed to have audiences laughing.

Thursday 26 March | HOTA – Home of the Arts
Flickerfest returns to the Gold Coast for a special screening of the Best of Australian Shorts – Gold Coast programme, Thur 26 Mar, 7pm at HOTA, celebrating some of the country’s most exciting film-making talent.
Alongside our audience favourites and award winners, this year’s programme will also shine a spotlight on local Queensland filmmakers, including the powerful drama Flame, written and directed by Katrina Channels, Half Past Midnight, a Gold Coast-made love story with a twist from Gold Coast resident, writer/director Daniel Bibby and the heartwarming drama Little Pumpkinshot locally, with a local cast and crew, by writer/director/producer Jess Trinity Fisher.

Flickerfest also returns to the Belgrave Movies in Armidale for two nights of award-winning shorts with the Best of International Shorts on Fri 27 Mar, 7pm.
The Best of Australian Shorts Armidale programme on Sat 28 Mar, 7pm includes a special local connection with The Gathering Light, written and directed by Armidale-raised filmmaker Xavier Masson-Leach fresh from its Bondi world premiere. This quietly poetic film follows a poet-fisherman during a solitary night of fishing, starring the legendary Chris Haywood.
