A huge thank you to everyone who’s joined us on the Flickerfest 2025 national tour so far, it’s been an incredible journey sharing the best of short film with communities right across the country! As we head into June and July, we’re gearing up for a stellar lineup of screenings in some truly spectacular spots, including Kununurra, Hobart, Merimbula, Darwin and Katherine. From the tropics to the coast and beyond, we can’t wait to bring the Flickerfest magic to more amazing audiences – read on for all the details!

First Stop in June – Kununurra

Get ready, Kununurra, Flickerfest is rolling back into town to the KNX Picture Gardens on Saturday, 7th June at 6pm, with our Best of Australian Shorts programme. Among this year’s standout films is Farm Block A67 co-directed by Jason Haji-Ali, a young Yawuru man from the Kimberley. Alongside a stellar line up of home grown talent including award winners and festival favourites from our Bondi festival.It’s going to be a beautiful night under the stars, not to be missed!

Flickerfest is returning to The Peacock Theatre at Salamanca Arts Centre on Friday 20th June and Saturday 21st June for two unforgettable nights of world-class short films, straight from our 2025 Bondi competition line-up.
Friday 20th June, 8pm – Best of International Shorts
Travel the globe in one evening with award-winning, moving and wildly entertaining short films from Belgium, China, Sweden, Germany, Ireland and beyond.
Saturday 21st June, 8pm – Best of Australian Shorts.
Celebrate the incredible creativity of Australian filmmakers with a dynamic mix of festival favourites and award winners from across the country. This vibrant programme also features Accoladia, a quirky comedy produced by Tassie’s own Grace Quinn and Sophie Booth.Both screenings begin at 8pm, with doors and the Tricycle Café open from 7.30pm for pre-show drinks and snacks.These popular sessions always sell out, run don’t walk.

We’re thrilled to be returning to the beautiful Twyford Theatre on Friday 11th & Saturday 12th July as part of our 2025 national tour, bringing two stellar nights of short film magic to the Sapphire Coast.
Friday 11th July, 7.30pm – Best of Australian Shorts.
A celebration of incredible homegrown talent, showcasing some of the most exciting and award-winning short films from across the country.
Saturday 12th July, 7.30pm – Short Laughs Comedy
A wildly entertaining collection of clever comedy shorts from across the globe, guaranteed to have you grinning from ear to ear.Enjoy a night out with food and drinks available and mingle with fellow film lovers, It’s the perfect winter treat!.Don’t miss out, mark your calendars and join us for two unforgettable nights of short film brilliance in Merimbula!
Darwin – One Night, Two Unmissable Screenings!

We are thrilled to be returning to the Deckchair Cinema in Darwin on Saturday, 19th July.For one night only, experience two unmissable programmes celebrating the best in Australian storytelling. Kicking off the evening at 7:00pm is the Best of Australian Shorts, a dynamic showcase of homegrown talent and cinematic excellence. Then at 9:00pm, be captivated by eight powerful films from some of the brightest voices in Indigenous cinema today, as our Indigenous Spotlight Shorts programme showcases bold, original storytelling from extraordinary First Nations filmmakers. Celebrating talent from the Northern Territory, Hydraulic, directed by Nicole Hutton Lewis, who grew up in the NT, follows a father and son on a wild goose chase, brimming with heart and humour. Another standout is Farm Block A67, a compelling work by Indigenous filmmakers Simone Detourbet (a writer and director from Darwin) and Jason Haji-Ali. Don’t miss this unforgettable night of creativity, culture and connection on the big screen.

This inspiring selection highlights the richness of Australian culture and identity on screen.Highlights include The Fix-It-Man and Fix-It-Wooman, a vibrant animation created by artists from the Yarrenyty Arltere Town Camp in Alice Springs, and Marcia and The Shark, starring Tilda Cobham-Hervey in a captivating, award-winning tale. You’ll also be treated to The Dog, a powerful drama starring Kate Walshe, and the deliciously dark comedy Candy Bar, from director Nash Edgerton and Damon Herriman and more!Grab your friends and join us for a night of unforgettable Aussie shorts, entertaining, moving, and unmissably original.
