We hope you all had a beautiful Easter and a chance to recharge. A huge thank you to our incredible audiences who’ve already joined us on the road, your energy in the room is what makes Flickerfest so special.This April, we’re back in full swing, kicking off in Brisbane this Thursday before heading to Melbourne and beyond, with stops in Coffs Harbour, Canowindra, Hervey Bay and Noosa. We’re bringing a diverse mix of standout shorts from this year’s festival to each location, we can’t wait to share them with you.

Two Nights Of Incredible Shorts In Coffs Harbour

Join us on Friday 10 April at 7:30pm at the Jetty Memorial Theatre for the Best of Australian Shorts, a vibrant celebration of homegrown storytelling. From the darkly comic The Rockjob by Sam and Luke Darcy, with extensive connections locally to the award-winning Tuesday Tuesday, plus standout short from Michala Banas Packed Away, Matt Day’s Baby Shower starring Hugo Weaving, and the sharp, hilarious The Suit with Kat Stewart and Colin Lane, it is a night full of heart, humour and unforgettable moments.
Then on Saturday 11 April at 7:30pm we are heading global with our Best of International Shorts. Highlights include the Oscar-winning The Singers, the Oscar-nominated A Friend of Dorothy starring Miriam Margolyes and Stephen Fry, alongside My Plastic Mother, Radix, and Renee Zellweger’s directorial debut They, and much more! It is a beautiful mix of stories from around the world and we can’t wait to see you there.

Local Talent, Big Stories – Flickerfest Hits Melbourne!

Get ready, Melbourne! Join us at the Kino Palace Cinema on Wednesday 15 April at 6:30pm for the Best of Melbourne Shorts, a celebration of the bold storytelling and creative vision of our local filmmakers. Doors open at 6:pm, so arrive early to raise a glass to Melbourne’s vibrant short film industry before settling in for a stellar evening of films at 630pm.
This year’s program features nine hand-picked shorts from Victorian talent fresh from their premieres at Flickerfest Bondi. Highlights include Packed Away, the directorial debut of actress Michala Banas (Always Greener, McLeod’s Daughters), the sharp and hilarious comedy The Suit from Jesse Vogelaar with Kat Stewart and Colin Lane, Monty Callan’s Cracked, Marc Vecchio’s For My Mother, and other standout films including, The Scan, Writers in Love, Thank You All The Same, Bubba, and They Loved Us the Most.
Included in your ticket is a complimentary glass of Rosnay organic wine, and the chance to meet some of Melbourne’s incredible filmmakers before the screening. Flickerfest brings the glitz and excitement of Australia’s premier short film festival to Melbourne, come celebrate our local talent and be part of the magic.

Hello Canowindra! Flickerfest is rolling into town and we can’t wait to see you. Join us at our long terms partners Rosnay Vineyard Cellar Door on Thursday 16 April for a night of laughter, stories, and a few surprises along the way.
This year’s lineup features an exciting selection of the Best of Australian Shorts, carefully chosen to entertain, charm, and showcase the incredible talent of local and national filmmakers. Highlights include Tuesday Tuesday, winner of Best Female Director at Flickerfest 2026 starring Peter Phelps, the heartfelt Packed Away from Michala Banas, Matt Day’s darkly funny Baby Shower with Hugo Weaving, and the playful comedy Writers in Love. Every film brings something unique to the screen, promising an evening full of memorable moments.

Hervey Bay is rolling out the red carpet! For the first time ever, in partnership with Screen Fraser Coast, Flickerfest is coming to Bigscreen Cinemas on Saturday 18 April. Join us for a glamorous evening celebrating the Best of Australian Shorts, featuring award-winning highlights and festival favourites fresh from Flickerfest Bondi.
Expect an unforgettable mix of laughs, heart, and surprises as some of Australia’s most talented filmmakers showcase their work on the big screen. From moving dramas to sharp comedies and award-winning animations, including QLD favourite’ Little Pumpkin’ this is a night that celebrates creativity, storytelling, and the magic of short films.
Doors open at 6pm for pre-show drinks and snacks, with the screening starting at 6:30pm. Come early, soak up the buzz, and enjoy a truly memorable evening with Flickerfest in Hervey Bay.

Noosa, it’s comedy time! Flickerfest returns to The J – Noosa Junction on Thursday 23 April at 7pm with our Short Laughs Comedy program.
Expect a riot of laughs with hand-picked highlights from our Bondi competition: the Oscar-winning The Singers, in a moving story about friendship, the wild ride of Laterz, the quirky The Scan, the sky-high fun of Carcassonne-Acapulco, Bowl Cut’s summer haircut chaos, and the riotous detective world of Odd Socks starring Sandi Toksvig.(QI, The Great British Bake Off)
