On Friday 21st travel the world with our Best of International Shorts and on Saturday 22nd warm your heart with our Short Laughs Comedy programmes from Australia and the world. Each programme features a handpicked selection of festival favourites and award winners, direct from Flickerfest’s Oscar Qualifying Bondi competition.
Don’t Miss WA highlights, dating comedy Skin and Boner the stunning Joan and Indigenous drama Farm Block A67 and catch some Hollywood names with WA connections in The Dog, starring Perth-based actress, Kate Walshe (Greys Anatomy) and Glove by Perth-born and raised Wri/Dir Belinda Bromilow (Doctor/Doctor, The Great). WA talent & creatives also feature in Typo, The Recipe for Jam, Before The Son, Light Can’t Escape and Mr. Wonderful, so come along to celebrate WA filmmakers, crews and talent.
On Thursday the 20th Feb meet loads of Perth filmmakers on opening night and toast to their talent with a complimentary drink from our partners Gage Roads Brew Co and Rosnay Organic wines.

Mullumbimby Here We Come!

Flickerfest and iQ inc are back for 2025, kicking off our 3-day festival of short films at the Mullumbimby Civic Hall, Thursday 27th February – Saturday 1st March.
This year’s smorgasbord of over 40 incredible short films are handpicked from a record 3,500 entries received for Flickerfest’s Academy® and BAFTA Qualifying short film festival screened recently in Bondi.
Highlights enjoying their Northern Rivers premieres include much loved festival award winners, screening alongside exciting, fresh local Northern Rivers talent.
On Thursday 27th February: Raise a glass to 28 years of Flickerfest in the Northern Rivers at our pre screening drinks from 7pm on the 27th Feb! Ticket includes complimentary drinks from Rosnay Organic Wine, Gage Roads Brew Co, and Karma Drinks, with sumptuous snacks prior to the films at 8pm!
Catch the Best of International Shorts programme which includes Beautiful Men, winner of Best International Animation at Flickerfest 2025 and hot off its nomination for the upcoming Oscars.
On Friday 28th February, 8pm: Best of Australian Shorts shine. Catch the delightful The Fix-It-Man and The Fix-It-Wooman, set in the bright lights of Alice Springs and brought to life by a talented group of artists from the Yarrenyty Arltere Town camp.
And then on Saturday 1st March:
2pm: free ‘Shorts To Features’ Filmmaking Workshop Join festival Director Bronwyn Kidd in conversation with acclaimed Australian Director Nick Waterman as they discuss Nick’s journey from shorts to features. Go behind the scenes with Nick as we follow his career path from award winning short film director and Flickerfest alumni to his latest career highlight directing the feature film ‘How To Make Gravy’, inspired by Paul Kelly’s famous song and written in collaboration with Nick’s partner, musician Meg Washington.
4pm: Flickerfest and iQ will shine a light on local talent at the 20th year of Byron All Shorts. Check out finalists including Old Man And His Dogs which portrays a loveable character in Gulmarrad and the rural lifestyle he lives directed by Kathryn Kermode. Also highlighted is Vibrations debunking the myth that surfing isn’t a a spiritual practice by Bodhi Neylan of New Brighton; as well as Hold Steady wri/dir Jasper Cardozo of Ewingsdale, about a runner who finds inspiration following his grandfather’s death and that gives him the determination to win.
8pm: Enjoy an evening of clever comedy from Australia and across the world with the Short Laughs Comedy programme, Don’t miss the delicious black Australian comedy Candy Bar from director Nash Edgerton (Mr In Between), written by and starring award winning actor Damon Herriman (Breaking Bad) and laugh out loud at the highly humorous Dutch Film Nelson the Piglet, about a family whose miniature pig becomes the talk of the town.

Join us for a night of Australia and the world’s best short films at Griffith Regional Theatre on 7 March!
The Flickerfest red carpet will be rolling on out 7 March for an ultimate showcase of the Best Australian Short Films including festival award winners, audience favourites and plenty of regional talent featured, fresh from their Bondi premieres.
Check out the Best of Australian Shorts programme featuring The Dog, starring Kate Walsh (Grey’s Anatomy), be moved by the tender Rash directed by Claudia Osborne and The Hoist, a hilarious and unexpected journey with a surprise guest that will keep audiences entertained from start to finish.
